Former City Commissioner Phil Diamond is a candidate for Orange County Comptroller
below is a copy of Phil's announcement from August 26, 2015
Today, I filed to run for the office of Orange County Comptroller.
I'm running because I believe I'm the best qualified person to protect our citizens’ hard earned tax dollars and carry on the outstanding work of retiring comptroller Martha Haynie.
As a tax attorney and CPA , I have the background and skills to keep Orange County’s financial house in order. During my service as an Orlando city commissioner, I consistently worked to save taxpayer dollars by questioning and opposing wasteful government spending and by voting against property tax increases. I also returned unspent money from my office budget to the City's General Fund every year I was in office.
As a fiscal conservative, I was honored to be labelled "...a vigilant watchdog of the city's coffers..." by Beth Kassab of the Orlando Sentinel and, "...a thoughtful and smart financial mind.." by Scott Maxwell of the Orlando Sentinel.
I think a 'fiscally conservative watchdog' is exactly what Orange County needs as its Comptroller. I'm looking forward to meeting and speaking with as many voters as possible to see if they agree -- and I've started doing that today!
